Online Betting Poker

Betting Poker
One of the basics in learning how to play poker is to understand that it is a game of betting. You can’t play poker if you don’t understand poker bets. You should never bet out of turn during a poker game. Even though poker rules vary from place to place, the betting is always clockwise around the table, and it is always wrong to bet outside your turn.
Online betting is fairly simple; you just have to click on a button that matches the action that you want to execute. However, you should still know how to bet. To wager into a pot, you can simply say that you want to bet, or you can move the chips forward according to the amount of your bet. That doesn’t mean you can throw the chips into the pot (called splashing the pot). This makes it hard to determine whether you have put in the right amount or not.
Raising is also similar; only difference is you announce “raise” instead of calling “bet”. You are not allowed to do a “string bet” — getting your chips in two motions, one for bet and other for raise. Folding is also easy – you just say “fold” or move the cards to the dealer so that they can muck the cards. And to check, you have to announce “check”, or you can simply tap the table.
Poker Blinds and Antes
In Hold’em games, you have to post blinds before the cards are dealt. There are two blinds in each playing round namely the small blind and the big blind. Players who post blinds rotate one place to the left after every hand. At the start, the player posting the small blind is the one on the left of the dealer, and the player posting the big blind is on the left of the player that posted the small blind. In the first betting round, the big blind plays at the end, as that player by now has a full bet in the pot. Mostly when you are entering a Hold’em game in progress, you will have to post the big blind to start. If your seat is close to the big blind on your right, you may want to wait until the big blind is at your position. If you are already in the Hold’em game and you depart from the table and miss posting the blinds, you should post both the blinds to come back to the game, or you will have to wait until the big blind reaches your place.
Betting Limits
Poker games are defined not only by the rules but also by the betting limits. The betting limits are visibly defined in limit games, and all bets and raises should be as per these limits. The limits are normally at a lower level throughout the first two betting rounds, and then bigger in the next two. In pot limit games, the pot size is the maximum allowed bet limit. Conversely in no limit games, you can bet all the chips you have at any time you like.
